The Schwefelquelle spring water is found to be rich in minerals, sulphate, calcium, magnesium and trace of lithium. Because of the presence of these substances the water can be considered "mineral water" with hygienic properties and favourable to health. It may be used for curative purposes, generally at the source. There can also be beneficial effects for the digestive system, respiratory system, joints and nervous system.
The Romans already knew about the medicinal effect of sulphuric water. They left the remains of a bath basin and numerous offerings to the gods of healing and bathing nymphs to thank them for healing sciatica, rheumatism, woman’s complaints, articular gout, and illnesses of the skin and the respiratory tract. This mysterious power of nature has been used for many centuries as the altar picture in our house chapel dating back to 1720 shows.
